Not The Super Star

It just dawned on me that I post a ton about Mac and not much about Devan and I. I'm sure when I look back on our book I'll wonder what we were up to as well. I would also like to think that readers would care about us too and not just Mac but I know the truth. So you'll just have to suffer through information about us:

Devan started his new job at Kimley-Horn in January and has really enjoyed it. Although it is only March he says  the "new guy" status has seemed to wear off and he is really happy about that. There are quite a few other young professionals in his office and he has enjoyed having friendly cool guys around his age to work with. He has several good office stories and has learned more than just engineering stuff. Such as how to shoot a rubber band super awesome. Secret, secret apparently. He has been called to serve with the Young Men in our new ward and is really enjoying it. Since he acts 12 most of time he gets along really well with the boys. And last but not least, he is the best dad ever!!! Mac adores him and my favorite part of the day is watching Mac smile and run to the door when he hears his dad's motorcycle pull in the garage. And he is looking good as ever! Isn't he so handsome?!

And as for me I am living the good life here in Texas. I have been really lucky to make some really good friends fast and Mac and I enjoy going and doing things with them in the day. My 28 week belly is getting big and June 22nd seems to be coming up way too fast. I am a little nervous about having 2 children and trying not to imagine how I will be the only girl around the house. If the boys get any of the teasing habits from their dad I am in huge trouble! I also have a new calling in our ward of Relief Society Secretary and am excited about serving. Some of the women in the presidency were friends I mentioned earlier so I am so excited to get to serve with them. I still love to cook and bake and have been trying new things thanks the wonderful world of the internet. Coconut almond bread, mexican haystacks, creme brule cheesecake bars have been some of my recent favorites. I am loving being a mom and enjoying the Texas weather as much as I can before it gets too hot, which for me is 80. Beware everyone, there might be some ornery posts once it gets over 90:)

Great pictures, right?! haha. I sure wish I had different ones. And by different I mean better. haha.

Fav-O-Fav

So far my life saver and favorite place in Texas has been Bicentennial Park. It is about half a mile from our house and an amazing park. It has several play grounds, a disk golf course, tons of trees, and tons of green space to just roam and enjoy being outside. It gets really windy some days here in Texas so the other day we took advantage of that wind and headed to the park to fly Devan's cool trick kite. He was a pro and I was not. End of story. But we all had fun!

Mac loved to look up at the kite in the sky. He is such a good boy!
The Master, Devan. Trust me, it is not as easy as he makes it looks.
I did not do my hair like this on purpose. This picture is to prove that is was indeed really windy!
And it all ended in a tangled mess. JK. I don't quite know this happened but we got him out of it.

What a fun day at the park.

Approaching the Terrible Two's

Mac has been having a LOT of fun lately and we have too. He is at such a fun age and everyday there is more fun to be had with him. I have loved this age because he is learning so fast and doing new things everyday but isn't to the terrible two's. But he's getting there and I am trying to savor these last few months with my sweet one year old. I have a friend with a 2.5 year old and every time we are with them she says. "Oh you just wait"! Wait I will because I am sure loving this little cutie. Here are some pictures of the latest happenings with him:

As "Daddy's little shadow" of course he has to mow the lawn with him.
I told Mac to go put this trash can in the bathroom. He obeyed! What a good boy.
And he was so thrilled with himself.
There were a few days that Mac would not eat anything. All kids go through those stages. On this particular day the only thing he had eaten by 5:00 PM was 6 eggs. 3 scrambled for breakfast (his all time fav! The first words as I get him out of his crib in the morning are eggs, eggs, eggs) and 3 hard boiled as I was peeling them to make deviled eggs. This kid is just like his grandpa. I'm pretty sure he would eat eggs and cheese for every meal if I would let him.
He has this silly obsession with chairs and loves to sit in any chair he can especially if they are somewhat close to his size. He particularly liked this one at my parents house.

He is growing so fast and learning so much. It has been such a joy to be his mom! Oh, Mac, I sure love you.

And on another note, I am 27 weeks. 13 more to go. Totally crazy!! I am so excited for this new boy to come to our family. I can't wait to snuggle him!

Butterfly Exhibit

There is SO much to do around the Fort Worth area. It has been so fun to get to go explore and check out so many new things. A few days ago we went to the Butterfly Exhibit at the Botanical Gardens. The kids loved it as did I. I could not believe how many butterflies there were and how humid they had to keep it!! We went with some friends and both Mac and I liked having people to pal around with. Here are some pictures of the butterflies and friends:

These butterflies were seriously the size of Mac's face. SO BIG.
So my camera is not the best but this butterfly had a beautiful blue color on it. One of my favs.
Mac loves to put his hands in his pockets. Since his bum is so small though it usually makes his pants fall off. Luckily they stayed on this time.
The boys were telling us what butterflies were what. They are so smart.
See the eye resemblance? Must be my adorable little boy. Sure do love him!
They were all so thrilled to take a picture. haha. But aren't still cute? Mac is so lucky to have so many kids his age he gets to play with. He loves Sey-yaa (Sawyer) and Binnn (Brynn).
CHEEZE!! A little blurry but still the cutest thing ever!
The water was their favorite part.
Luckily we didn't we didn't have anyone get in although they sure tried hard.
Especially Mac. Don't worry, I caught him before he got too far over the ledge.
Apparently these rails should be against code says Devan the engineer.

After the butterfly exhibit Candace took us to the Old Pancake House to get a famous German Pancake. I wish I would have snapped a shot of it because it was beyond words. We will definitely be going there again so maybe it will make a debut on a future post.

Thank you Fort Worth for being such a fun place to live.

Daddy's Boy

Lately Mac has turned into a real Daddy's boy. He is his little shadow. They were playing in the car this afternoon (one of Mac's favorite places to play, don't ask me...) and I thought I would join them. When I got in the car he said, "Go, Go, Go". I asked him if he wanted me to go and get out of the car. He responded with, "watch". Meaning I should just watch him and his dad play.

What a silly boy. I guess he gets plenty of me time everyday so I shouldn't be sad that he wants to spend some quality time with his dad, right?

Crazy in Az

Dev, Mac, and I all flew to AZ this past week. It was a blast to get to be with family for a few days! Mac even fell asleep on the plane which was quite the great surprise. There is not much cuter than a sleeping baby (or toddler).

The main purpose of the trip for Devan to pick-up our truck in AZ and drive it home to Texas. We had to leave it there on our move to Texas because of Mechanical problems. We just weren't fitting in here in Texas without a truck. haha. Poor Dev had a pretty short stay in AZ but luckily the truck made it back to Texas with not problems and the lonely 16 hour drive wasn't too bad for Dev. But what a trooper!!

We got see our new nephew, Bryce, who is a doll and such a good baby so far. His dad is a great photographer and I just love this picture!

All the nieces and nephews had such a great time playing in the backyard while the adults chit-chatted inside. Let me rephrase that. All the young kids and people that act like young kids, meaning Devan, played in the backyard while the adults were inside. The kids go crazy for Devan! It was fun for me to be the favorite aunt or uncle until Devan came into the family. At least I got the title for a few years. Now they could care less about me. But I can't hold them all at once like he can so I guess he deserves it. I got some really hilarious pictures of every grandkid on Devan with my dad's camera and once I get those pictures I will surely post them because they are priceless!

When we weren't in Mesa playing with family we were enjoying Payson! Mac had a great time at the park and is trying to do things way to hard for his young age. But he hasn't been hurt yet, knock on wood. He climbed this thing all by himself. Notice the smile. He is so proud!

Mac had a great time getting spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa! My mom told him that now that he lives in Texas he needs some cowboy boots. He just kept repeating, "Boots, boots, boots..." and my mom had to take him to "wally-world" as my dad would say, and get him some cowboy boots. I was glad they had some because I was sick of hearing boots over and over!

He loves those boots!! He has also learned to take off his pants and diaper lately. That has been fun. He loves to be naked as all kids do at some point. Luckily I got this pictures pre-diaper tear off. haha.

Mac loves to play in the backyard at my parents house and especially loves being in the spa with his grandpa! I got to make a few maternity shirts and enjoyed relaxing a bit. But I did miss Devan and was glad to see him when we got home. Even though he did scare me at the airport by sneaking up behind me. You just don't do that to a pregnant lady!!

We sure loved getting to be in Crazy AZ again and getting to see family. Hopefully it won't be too long before we get to do it again.

Roadkill

I just saw a dead armadillo on the freeway on ramp. No joke, an armadillo! I guess we really do live in Texas now.
